In BJP's Election Campaign, Facebook Was heavily Used, Rules Were Ignored

Kumar Sambhav and Sreegirish Jalihal of non-profit media organisation TRC, and Nayantara Ranganathan of Ad.Watch have investigated whether Facebook allowed its platform to be misused. They found that Facebook has blatantly violated its rule of not sponsoring any political party and not promoting its related posts on its own. Facebook apparently provided its platform to some anonymous and indirect advertising surrogate advertisers to encourage the Narendra Modi-led BJP and spread misinformation against the Opposition during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On this issue, senior financial journalist Paranjay Guha Thakurta speaks to journalist Kumar Sambhav Srivastava who was involved in the investigation.
